NON WOVEN ABRASIVES

A web of nylon fibers coated with abrasive grains and bonded with synthetic resins makes up non-woven abrasives. Cleaning, blending, deburring, stripping, finishing, and surface preparation are all excellent uses for non-woven products.
New products for a wider range of finishing applications have resulted from recent advancements in fiber and resin technology. A controlled cut and consistent, uniform finishes are made possible by non-woven abrasives. These items are waterproof, launderable, non-conductive, non-metallic, non-rusting and dissolvable safe. The size of the nylon filaments, and number of strands packed, give a great many densities. The open weave of the majority of hand pads, buff and blend discs, and rolls makes them flexible and conformable to the workpiece. In order to provide better cut, life, and finish, surface conditioning belts and discs will have a higher resin/abrasive content. When cleaning mill scale or removing coatings, clean and strip discs are very rigid and have an open weave to reduce loading. When compared to wire wheels, these are a superior choice.
The majority of applications for deburring and blending call for aluminum oxide grains; for finer finishes, silicon carbide is utilized. For certain deburring and finishing tasks, ceramic grains are becoming increasingly popular.
